Every child is a winner at school’s sports day

Children as young as one-year old, up to the age of seven, gave it their all on the track.

An hour of training a day over two and a half months paid off for the learners at Bright Start Academy, who impressed spectators with their athletic prowess at the school’s annual sports day.

Despite a disruption in electricity supply at the start of the event, principal, Ashmeetha Samantha Govender, said the event went very well with parents and children enjoying themselves thoroughly.

Govender said the highlight of the event was the children’s rendition of the national anthem which, “they sang to the tee,” before the races began.

“Sports events are important to instil physical fitness at a young age and to develop fine motor skills. It also teaches children to work as a team and how to overcome challenges,” Govender explained.

Everybody was a winner at the Bright Start sports day with each and every child being awarded with a medal and certificate for participation.
