KZN residents urged to use water sparingly as provincial dam storage capacity remains unchanged

While work continued to successfully implement measures to bring about relief, Mavasa stated that it was important for residents, especially businesses, to use water sparingly.

The Department of Water and Sanitation in KwaZulu-Natal has urged the public to use water sparingly as the overall water storage capacity in the province remains unchanged at last week’s 89.3%.

“We may be sitting at almost 90% of good dam levels across the province, but this does not mean that we are out of the woods yet. There are still some communities that are experiencing water challenges, and we are working like a glove with various municipalities and our entity, Umgeni-uThukela Water, to roll out bulk water projects to ensure reliable access and supply of water,” said Wisane Mavasa, the departmental spokesperson.

While work continued to implement measures to bring about relief, Mavasa stated that it was important for residents, especially businesses, to use water sparingly.
