Body found in shallow grave
The body was still fully dressed and in the process of decomposing
The Vryheid K9 Search & Rescue Unit was dispatched to the Mbonjeni area of Nongoma regarding an ‘atrocious, suspicious smell’. The unit, accompanied by search dog Achil and Nongoma SAPS, searched the area and Achil reacted to a smell emerging from the ground. Upon further investigation, the team discovered a 46-year-old man’s body buried in a shallow grave. The body was still fully dressed and in the process of decomposing, which made it difficult to detect any visible injuries. A case of murder has been opened.
