Illegal dumping frustrates residents

"No one wants to live around rubbish"

A homeowner is frustrated with the illegal dumping that is happening at the corner of Diamana and Cochrane roads, where there is a pathway for pedestrians to access another road.

Residents in the area are furious at the state of the corner due to people throwing their household waste there.

“This rubbish is directly in front of my house! It is so disgusting that other residents throw their refuse here instead of in trash cans so that the municipality can haul it away on bin collection days. It is very inconsiderate indeed,” said the homeowner.

The rubbish gets blown around on windy days, creating an even bigger mess that covers the whole street.

The issue has been reported to the municipality, but nothing seems to be done to remedy this problem

“Sometimes it’s people who stay in the same area that come and throw their rubbish at the corner. As a result, everyone struggles to use the pathway, which is the easiest route to our homes,” said another angry resident.
