Amajuba District Speaker, Cllr Umntwana.S.O.Zulu officiates swearing in of new Councillor

Cllr. E.S. Kunene was further elected as the Chairperson of the MPAC, which was also a position held by the Councillor who tendered his resignation.

The DA’s E.S. Kunene was sworn in as an Amajuba District Councillor. He replaces fellow DA Councillor, J.S. Thusi, who resigned.

Kunene took the oath of office before Magistrate, K Gurlal and the full Council, at a meeting last Thursday, January 25, officiated by Speaker, Cllr. uMntwana S.O. Zulu.

The Amajuba District Municipality said in a statement that new councillor were required by law to swear or affirm their faithfulness and obedience to the Republic, the Constitution, and the Council before the Magistrate at a Council meeting.

Cllr uMntwana S.O. Zulu, together with the Mayor, Cllr uMntwana Ndabuko Zulu, welcomed Cllr E.S. Kunene, who can now participate in the official business of the council, and wished him well in serving the people of the Amajuba District Municipality and upholding his sworn oath.
