Cheers to a sober New Year

Looking to ditch the booze? Try out these alternative beverages.

Want to usher in the New Year sober?

With 2024 approaching, many people look to make drastic lifestyle choices at the beginning of a new year such as abstaining from alcohol.

Cutting down on alcohol has many health benefits. However, many people struggle with the change.

Here is a list of beverages to substitute that favourite bottle of wine, beer or cider. The selection is also great for non-drinkers:

  • Sparkling water is a great alternative to alcohol, especially if you are a fan of the bubbly.
  • Soda water or tonic water with flavoured syrup or herbs.
  • Spiced or regular apple juice.
  • Water with lemon or mint.
  • Pomegranate juice, which is rich in fruity flavour. Its flavour and aroma are similar to red wine and it can also be used in cooking.
  • Ginger ale.
  • Red or white grape juices are an excellent alternative to wine.
  • Cranberry juice.

If you’re looking to still enjoy the social aspects of drinking, try mocktails.

These mixed non-alcoholic drinks are refreshing, delicious and there are numerous different combinations.
