Murder case against father and son duo postponed to 2024

Court proceedings are set to continue on March 4, 2024.

Father and son Manoj (58) and Sanjoth Madhan (28) were back in court last week on charges of the 2022 murder of Mercisha Tedpaul, who was in a relationship with Madhan’s youngest son, Nishkar.
Mercisha (24) went missing on March 1, 2022.
Following an intensive search, her body was found four days later on a hill near a railway line in Watt Road.
She had been strangled to death.
Initially, Manoj’s wife Sarika was also charged, but charges were withdrawn in November last year.
Madhan and his son have been in custody ever since their arrest.

Court proceedings are set to continue on March 4, 2024.
However, the Madhans’ attorney, Melokuhle Shabangu, intends on bringing to court another bail application based on new facts.

Sarika Madhan (47), one of three members of her family charged with murder, is a free woman.
Charges were withdrawn against her in the Dundee Court.
