Ward 2 community gets a much needed ‘face-lift’

Committee members marked traffic light poles with reflective tape to assist motorists in identifying these during night-time load shedding.

The Ward 2 committee has stepped up to the plate and has been prioritising service delivery within their community by tackling small tasks one by one.

A golf day was held in April with many generous prizes and money donations raised by the committee.

With that money, 60 bags of tar were purchased as well as yellow and white road marking paint.
In partnership with Afriforum, hazardous potholes were identified and repaired and pedestrian crossings at some schools were also repainted.

Additional paint has been purchased and with more donations received, these will be used to repaint the road markings throughout Ward 2.

The committee has prioritised areas of concern and is working with the municipal Protection Services. Stolen stop sign boards were replaced; road markings and speed humps have been painted.

The committee thanked Mr Khosa for his assistance and dedication to assisting with the repairs of the four-way stop at the corner of Impala and Coronation Roads.

Committee members were also seen undertaking the task of marking traffic light poles with reflective tape to assist motorists in identifying these during night-time load shedding to avoid unnecessary collisions.

In addition, plans are afoot to re-allocate WhatsApp group community members to committee members.

This re-allocation will relieve the deluge of messages sent to the councillor, and members of the committee tasked will be able to respond to the shared incoming messages and queries from their allocated community members.

A compilation of the messages received and solutions offered will be compiled and posted in the Ward Management System for reporting to the Ward Councillor to be followed up.

“Please support your Ward 2 committee members in their drive to improve services.”
