Power outage leaves large parts of Dundee in the dark

Residents are hot under the collar as power failure continues.

The afterglow of the Springboks’ World Cup victory was short-lived for many Dundee residents after a power outage left a large swathe of the town without power.

After contending with load shedding – back before the Webb Ellis trophy had even left Paris -, Dundonians quickly lost their humour with unseasonable weather sending temperatures plunging and an unplanned power failure at around 7 30pm last night, Monday, plunging many into darkness.

It was also the day the matric and school end-of-year exams started and many have been wringing their hands since as the power is yet to return to the Colley Street area, Bulwer Street, golf club area, Strathmore Park, extension 18, Craigieburn and the El Sol complex and surrounding areas.

It is believed that electricians are presently locating three cable faults.  No time frame of when power will be restored has been communicated by the municipality.
