Lennoxton family held hostage during armed home invasion

Ithemba Security and the SAPS quickly responded to the scene, however the suspects managed to flee the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash and valuable items.

A Lennoxton family has been left traumatised after three armed men held them at gun-point during a home invasion in the early hours of this morning (Wednesday, October 26).

Mornè Potgieter of Ithemba Security said the men gained entry into the home at around 02: 30 by forcing open a burglar guard.

“The suspects proceeded to tie up the family and their domestic worker while threatening them with a gun and demanding they hand over all their valuable possessions and cash.”

Ithemba Security and the SAPS responded quickly to the scene. However, the suspects managed to flee in the homeowner’s vehicle with an undisclosed amount of cash and valuable items. The vehicle was later found abandoned.

The suspects are still at large and believed to be a part of the same syndicate that has been terrorising the Newcastle community for the past month.

Potgieter advised members of the public and home owners to be extra vigilant and report any suspicious activity immediately.
