College officials also showed their support as the students gathered in the hall. Mr Dimba, who is the principal of the college, shared the history of the institution and the growth they have seen over the years. He mentioned that they are trying by all means to make life easier for all the people at the college by having a curriculum that will make the students employable after graduation.

Professor Ngubane, who was the guest speaker on the day, tackled the topic of ‘Artificial Intelligence (AI)’. He said that AI refers to the stimulation of human intelligence in machines that are capable of learning, reasoning, solving problems and making decisions. With this in mind, he urged the graduates to be multi-skilled in order to enhance their capabilities in the workplace. “It will be very painful to graduates if AI takes away their work because it is more equipped than people.” He shared that some experts and thinkers have expressed long-term concerns about the potential of AI to surpass human intelligence; people must be aware of this intervention and understand it.

The college had two top achievers for the year 2023. Studying Electrical Engineering, Ntokozo Vusi Kunene received eight distinctions with an average pass rate of 80%. Doing a Farming Management course, Mcebisi Syanda Ndwandwe was the second best achiever. He said he never expected to do this well; he is currently doing his internship at a local farm. They received cash prizes, certificates, laptops, printers and other items.
