LALIGA brings a Premier Football Camp to the region

Two LALIGA coaches, both of whom hold UEFA Pro licenses, put the youngsters through their paces and shared their priceless expertise and knowledge with the participants.

In an exciting development for Newcastle football, LALIGA, the world’s largest football ecosystem, teamed up with the KZN Department of Sport, Arts, and Culture (KZNDSAC) to bring a Premier Football Camp to the town.

Set against the backdrop of the picturesque Arbor Park Sports Grounds, this three-day event ran from October 1 to 3, and it was a game-changer for South African football.

LALIGA, renowned globally for its dedication to promoting football development and fostering international football connections, was thrilled to extend its reach to Newcastle.

The camp provided an unparalleled platform for local football enthusiasts, aspiring athletes, and young talents to learn from some of the world’s best coaches.

Tresor Penku, Managing Director for LALIGA Africa, remarked that ‘it’s not just a football camp; it’s a testament to LALIGA’s commitment to nurturing the sport’s growth and strengthening its ties with the South African football community.’

What sets this event apart is its emphasis on inclusivity and gender equality in football. Out of the 90 participants, an equal number of 45 boys and 45 girls had the chance to sharpen their skills under the watchful eyes of a diverse team of coaches.

Twelve local coaches, comprising six men and six women, mentored and trained the budding talents.

The youngsters were also put through their paces by two LALIGA coaches, both holding UEFA Pro licenses, who will shared their invaluable expertise and knowledge with the participants.

Penku said ‘LALIGA is committed to nurturing football talent worldwide, and this camp is a testament to our dedication to developing the sport in South Africa.’

“We believe this event will inspire the next generation of football stars and strengthen the football community in the region.”

Dr. Ntuthuko Mahlaba, KZN MEC for Sport, Arts, and Culture, welcomed the camp, marking the second such collaboration with LALIGA in the province, following the successful camp held in Durban earlier this year.

“We are honoured to collaborate with LALIGA on this initiative. Football is a passion that unites people, and we are excited to witness the positive impact this camp will has had on our local community. It’s a great opportunity for our youth to learn from the best and develop their skills,” said MEC Mahlaba.
