A1 holds off A2 in all-Dundee golf league showdown

Northern KZN Golf Union president Henk Booysen congratulated both teams on their great achievement and wished the A1 team all the best in defending their title in 2024.

It was an all-Dundee affair when the Country Club’s A1 and A2 teams battled it out on Sunday in the final of the Northern KZN Golf League Championships 2023.
After a closely-fought contest in cool conditions (a relief after days of severe heat), it was the talented A1 team of Bruce Marx, Jurie Engelbrecht, Dr Sifiso Kunene and Jo Khumalo who held off a determined A2 side (Shameel Ayob, Lala Govender, Ethan Jansen and Shameel Kalideen) to take the honours and the impressive shield with a score of 8-4.
Golf of a very high standard was witnessed, with A2’s Shameel Ayob commenting that ‘it is so great to be part of this great club and team’.
“Everyone at the club works so hard.
“Thanks to the kitchen staff for their hard work, as well as our opponents and supporters.”
Bruce Marx of A1 was equally impressed, saying the planning of the day was perfect.
“The A2 guys played some stellar golf. Great work by my brothers in A1 – we worked very hard to be crowned champions. Huge respect for everyone.”
