One arrested for possession of mandrax during SAPS operation

The estimated street value of the recovered mandrax tablets was R350.

A 24-year-old was arrested for the possession of mandrax on September 8 following an intelligence-driven operation conducted by members of the Osizweni Crime Prevention Unit.

Lizzy Arumugam, of the Newcastle SAPS corporate communications, said police had descended on a house in the Manzana area of the Osizweni Policing area after information regarding drugs was received.

“On arrival at house, members arrested one suspect for being in possession of three full mandrax tablets with a star. Later half a tablet was also seized. The estimated street value of the recovered mandrax tablets was R350.”

The suspect will is to appear in the Madadeni Magistrate Court.
