Female officers join forces with other stakeholders to fight crime
Women from various security sectors both private and public joined the operation to mark the end of Women's Month.
For Women’s Month, various police stations in the Umzinyathi District conducted ‘Operation Basadi’ and an awareness campaign on Friday, alongside sister departments and security companies.
According to Captain Ramkison, a sizeable operation was recently conducted in Umlazi on August 19. She further stated that during the operation, women from RTI, the Department of Social Services, security companies, Home Affairs and the Community Policing Forum came out to help them.
“Some of our ‘men in blue’ also came out to help us,” said Ramkison. “We basically searched vehicles for illegal firearms and drugs, and the Traffic Department helped us with regard to the Road Traffic Act, in terms of safety belts and expired vehicle discs. We also had Home Affairs helping us,” she concluded.
