Newcastle Municipality hosts Progressive Women’s summit to honour Women’s Month

The summit's main objective was to address and discuss the various challenges that women face on a daily basis, such as inequality, employment, poverty, and gender-based violence.

Women’s Month was marked by the Newcastle Municipality with the hosting of a Progressive Women’s in honour of Women’s Month in Osizweni on August 22.

Hosted under the theme: Accelerating Socio-Economic Opportunities for Women’s Empowerment: Women Take Seats at the Table, scores of women from the length and breadth of Newcastle gathered to celebrate and honour thousands of women who play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Newcastle.

The summit’s main objective was to address and discuss various challenges that women face on a daily basis, such as inequality, employment, poverty, and gender-based violence, while also brainstorming strategies and solutions on how to best empower women.
