Deputy Minister praises hard work of Amajuba’s health care workers

Healthcare workers, doctors, nurses, and support staff crowded the corridors and reception areas as the minister shook hands, took pictures, and encouraged the hardworking staff during his visit to the Amajuba district.

The tireless efforts of local health care workers were praised when Deputy Health Minister, Dr. Sibongiseni Dhlomo, on Monday (August 21) visited clinics in the Amajuba District.

His visit was to officially recognise the contribution by the area’s health workers and stakeholders who have ensured that Amajuba is one of the districts with the highest number of top performing Ideal Clinics in the country.

The Ideal Clinic initiative was launched in July 2013 with the goal of systematically improving the quality of care provided in primary health facilities, laying a solid foundation for the successful implementation of National Health Insurance (NHI).

To achieve this status, clinics must have adequate infrastructure, adequate staff, adequate medicine and supplies, adequate administrative processes, and adequate bulk supplies. They must also follow applicable clinical policies, protocols, and guidelines, as well as gain the support of partners and stakeholders.
