Rifles recovered by police
The arrested suspects are set to appear in various courts soon
Two rifles were among the recoveries during high-density operations conducted over the weekend. The rifles were recovered in the Ntabamhlophe area.
Operations in the Bergville, Upper Tugela and Ntabamhlophe areas yielded good results when officers recovered mandrax tablets, capsules suspected to be heroin, dagga, dangerous weapons and a large amount of liquor.
16 suspects aged between 22 and 54 were arrested for crimes such as rape, drunken driving, assault with intent to commit grievous bodily harm (GBH), possession of illegal firearms and substances, selling liquor without a licence, and pointing of a firearm.

All the arrested suspects are set to appear in various courts soon.
The recovered rifles will be subjected to ballistic testing.
