Introducing ‘Mr and Mrs Sarel Cilliers’ in a busy week

Congratulations to Miss Sarel Andiswa Mtshali and Mr Sarel Mpumelelo Ntshangase, First Princess Aphiwe Mbatha and First Prince Tresor Bwato, Second Princess Kwanele Mnsane and Second Prince Mnotho Khumalo.

Last week was a busy time at Sarel Cilliers High School. The annual competition for ‘Mr and Miss Sarel’ took place on Friday night, with many learners taking part and a full house attending to watch and give support.
The models professionally strutted their stuff on the catwalk and showed off some very stylish outfits, much to the appreciation of the crowd. Congratulations to Miss Sarel Andiswa Mtshali and Mr Sarel Mpumelelo Ntshangase, First Princess Aphiwe Mbatha and First Prince Tresor Bwato, Second Princess Kwanele Mnsane and Second Prince Mnotho Khumalo. It was a fantastic evening! Well done to Mr Dube and his team.
The girls played soccer on Saturday. It was a physically tough day, as they had to step in to play two matches of 30 minutes per side. The first match was against ML Sultan, resulting in an 8-2 win. The second match was a 2-7 loss against Sebenza. It was a great day out for the soccer girls.
The tennis team played against Ferrum and Ladysmith at a tournament held at St Dominic’s in Newcastle, with some learners taking to the court for the very first time.
It was a very enjoyable social day’s sport, with some wins and some losses, but a great learning experience for the team.
This Friday is Civvies Day for the learners, with funds in aid of the SPCA.
Sarel Cilliers will also be celebrating their 50th birthday, and celebrations will begin with sporting events and stalls on Friday and carry through to Saturday, with live entertainment in the evenings. Entry is R50 for adults, R20 for children aged 12 and under, and R20 for parking inside the school. Be sure to come and support.
Cricket:
The girls’ cricket team played Pioneer in the first match of the season. For some of the players, it was their first time on the field. They lost to a more experienced Pioneer side, but lots of potential and enthusiasm bodes well for a great season.
