Businessman motivates the youth to do better

"It is my aim to see our children doing well at school"

Estcourt’s Bonginkosi Mpembe is a business owner and community hero.

Born in Edwaleni Ka Mpembe and now 44 years old, Bonginkosi owns Lukhane Creations which is an ever-growing company that sells uniforms for family gatherings, societies, schools and churches. Deciding to share his success, Bonginkosi came up with an idea to give back to the community.

“It is my aim to see our children doing well at school, so we decided to start a ‘Top Achievers Awards’ to encourage them so that they will strive for good results,” he explained.

Representatives from Lukhane Creations visit local schools, where the red carpet is rolled out to honour their top achievers.
The ceremony includes music, song, speeches and the handing out of the awards.

“The learners are very happy; some even shed tears of joy. Parents, who also attend the event, are encouraged to motivate their children to do better,” explained Bonginkosi.

Thus far, the team has visited Phumelelani Primary School, Emangweni Primary School, Sizathina High School and Bhekundi High School. Other school visits will include Usizolwethu Primary, Geza Primary, Cecilia Primary, Estcourt Primary, and Zenzeleni and Egangeni crèches.
