4th annual Miss Independent pageant a huge success

The participants competed for top honours in various categories

Over 35 girls took part in this year’s edition of the annual Miss Independent Ladysmith beauty pageant.

The event was organised by Namuhla Chonco and was held at Siyafunda Upgrading Tuition last Saturday (July 8).

Winning the three major categories were: Fanele Mbona – Junior Queen, Nosipho Mbona – Miss Teen Queen, and Nompilo Mabaso – Senior Queen.

These three winners will be heading to the Mr & Miss Superior Queen South Africa 2023 pageant, to be held in Durban later this year.

Chonco said she is glad to see the competition growing and gaining popularity, adding that the aim is to ‘uncover, unearth and develop talent’, especially among young girls.

Chonco thanked the participants and their families who came out in numbers to show support, and also the sponsors that include Sokhulu Films and the Women’s Worth Organisation.
