Copper thief nabbed in the act

In a remarkable display of efficiency, a private security company apprehended a copper thief in Sunny ridge this morning

According to Magenta’s Channing, their armed response unit caught the suspect around 07:52 this morning.

“AR’s (armed response), Ruan and Deon, from Magenta spotted a man, who was acting suspiciously, carrying a plastic bag. When the man noticed them, he started running. AR gave chase and caught the suspect and copper pipes were found in his possession”, he said.

The suspect then led the security team to the house from where he had stolen the piping.

CCTV footage obtained shows the thief jumping over the fence into the garden of the house where he stole the copper.

A case has been opened with the SAPS.

Residents are reminded to be vigilant because copper thieves are back on the prowl.
