Each year, needy residents in the community are given a lifeline, thanks to the generosity of the public and Estcourt Round Table 74.
Winter Knights is an annual collection drive where donations of warm clothing, blankets, non-perishable food items, as well as cash, are accepted by the Tablers and then distributed to those in need. On May 26 and 27, Tablers were outside Pick n Pay calling for donations.
According to Estcourt Round Table 74 vice-chairman Jordon Hall, this year’s collection was a ‘simmering success’.
“This was by far one of the best Winter Knights we have done. We did a tally-up of the value of the donations and sponsorships received, and it came to a whopping R46,717. The majority came from the Gift of the Givers, with close to R40,000 in donations,” he said.
Collection trolleys are at Pick n Pay and HyperZone for those who would like to contribute. Estcourt Round Table 74 thanks everyone for their donations.
