Driver crashes into robot after hit ‘n run
A traffic light was demolished after being hit by a car last Tuesday afternoon. Police said a case of reckless and negligent driving was opened after the traffic light on the corner of McKenzie and Wilson streets was hit by a black car. It was said that the vehicle had earlier hit a pedestrian in Smith Street and that the driver sped away from the scene, which resulted in the crash. The driver was taken to hospital for treatment, as was the pedestrian.

Two arrested for stealing cellphone tower batteries
Two men were arrested and stolen cellphone tower batteries valued at around R400,000 were recovered after members of the Glencoe K9 Unit stopped a bakkie on the N11 on Saturday.
Earlier, information was received that the vehicle was travelling from Newcastle to Ladysmith. Members of the Glencoe K9 Unit spotted the vehicle and pulled it over near Ladysmith. Two men were arrested, while a third managed to get away. Seven cellphone tower batteries were found in the bakkie and taken to Ladysmith police station. The two suspects were detained at Ladysmith SAPS.
