Cable theft leaves Glencoe waterless again

The District Municipality said it hoped that power would be restored today and pumping of water would resume.

An electrical cable stolen from the water treatment plant impacted on Glencoe’s water supply.

The Umzinyathi District Municipality said the theft meant water could not be pumped to the Glencoe reservoir. Again, residents had to call in water tankers to alleviate the situation.

Glencoe residents again turned to social media to vent their frustration. Those living in higher areas said they had been without water for three weeks and said the outage could not be linked o the latest theft.

The District Municipality said it hoped that power would be restored today and pumping of water would resume.
