Five charged with illegal possession of copper cabling

It is not clear at this stage if the suspects are linked to theft that has led to Dundee's current blackout

Five men have been charged with being in possession of copper cabling and tampering with essential infrastructure.

Dundee Police took the men in for questioning after their vehicle was found to be loaded with copper cabling.

The copper was weighed in at 103kg. At this stage, it is unclear if the incident is directly linked to the theft of power line cables near Craigside that has led to Dundee’s current blackout that is set to endure for the rest of the day.

Dundee Police are continuing with their investigations. Updates will be given as these are provided.
