Upcoming NKZN JKA Provincial Championships

The Northern Kwa-Zulu Natal Japan Karate Association championships will be held at the Farmer’s Hall in Newcastle this coming Saturday (May 13).

In preparation, the senior karateka participated in a training session, followed by referees, judges, and table officials’ refresher course to guarantee the highest standard possible for all those involved.

Sensei Warren Bainton, 5th Dan, and the NKZN JKA tournament auditor from SA JKA, will be overseeing the tournament and will address all senior officials working at the championships on Friday to ensure that everything runs smoothly and according to the SA JKA syllabus. While all officers need to be at the venue at 7am on Saturday, the competition will commence for all participants at 9am

The NKZN JKA karate-ka have been training long and hard for the much-awaited championships, with a total of more than 300 entries from nine affiliated clubs hopeful for a place in the top four, which will secure them a spot on the Natal team competing at the National Championships in July later this year. Good luck to all these participants!

Anyone wanting to join or requesting information regarding classes and fees is welcome to contact Sensei Johan Swart at 083 658 7157.
