AACL does not pick up strays

Contact Public Safety on 036 631 1777 if you see a stray animal in the street

The Animal Anti-Cruelty League (AACL) would like to remind the community that they do not go out and pick up stray dogs and cats.

The local municipality is in charge of picking up strays. People phone the league and demand that stray dogs be attended to, hence this reminder.

According to animal inspector Pauline Lennon, the AACL is finding that more stray dogs and cats are coming in these days than previously. She encourages the public to rather contact Public Safety if they are concerned about animals wandering in the streets.

The number for Public Safety is 0366311777

In addition, the league urges every animal owner to keep their pets in their yards at all times.
