SANBS to host various mobile blood clinics throughout April

SANBS staff will also screen you beforehand to determine your haemoglobin levels and blood pressure.

The South African National Blood Services (SANBS) encourages all eligible donors to take some time out of their day to give the gift of life.

Each unit of blood donated contributes to the ability of those who rely on blood donations to spend time with their families.

Therefore, SANBS will host various mobile blood donor clinics throughout the month of April.

They will be as follows:

  • April 2 – Amajuba Mall
  • April 3 – Eyethu Junction
  • April 4 – Village Walk
  • April 5 – Scott Street Mall
  • April 6 – Theku Plaza
  • April 8 – Eyethu Junction
  • April 11 – Boxer Store and Village Walk
  • April 12 – Pick n Pay Pioneer Park
  • April 13 – St Dominics Newcastle and St Oswalds Secondary School
  • April 25 – Ferrum High School
  • April 27 – Newcastle Show Grounds
  • April 28 – Newcastle Show Grounds
  • April 29 – Newcastle Show Grounds

You can donate blood if:

  • You are between the ages of 16 and 75 years old (for first-time donors)
  • You weigh a minimum of 50 kilograms (a minimum of 55kg for platelet donors
  • You are in good health
  • You lead a low-risk lifestyle
  • You consider your blood safe for transfusion
  • You have had a balanced meal within four hours of donating blood
  • You have not donated blood in the past 56 days (14 days for platelet donors)
  • Your pulse is between 50-100 regular beats per minute.

SANBS staff will also screen you beforehand to determine your haemoglobin levels and blood pressure.
