KwaNotshelwa High School becomes new centre for NBT

Now the learners who take part in these tests no longer have to travel far because of the new centre that is +-50km away from Vryheid.

A few weeks back, KwaNotshelwa High School became the new centre for NBT (National Benchmark Test) in Vryheid. Under the leadership of Mr Ndebele, this is a momentous achievement for the school and the community at large.
Learners from Vryheid who have had the opportunity to write the AQL and MAT tests used to travel to Newcastle High or Masibumbane High School in order to write. Now the learners who take part in these tests no longer have to travel far because of the new centre that is +-50km away from Vryheid.

Mr Xulu from KwaNotshelwa High School mentioned that it is a great pleasure to be appointed as the NBT principal, where he will oversee all the logistics during the test processes. Some of the educators will be hired as invigilators when learners write.
Last week Thursday, KwaNotshelwa High School learners participated in the South African Mathematics Olympiad (SAMO) from Grade 8 to 12. The entire process was facilitated by Mr Zwane, under strict supervision from the school’s principal, Mr Ndebele.

‘’The Olympiad is aimed at improving analytical and problem-solving skills, improving academic performance, preparing for other Olympiads, improving reasoning ability and promoting scientific reasoning, as well as logical ability among students. The school will engage in the following Olympiads: ‘Natural Science, Life Science and Physical Science’ and ‘Accounting, Economics and Business Studies’. As KwaNotshelwa, we promise to assist learners, capacitate, mentor, coach and evaluate using different assessments,’’ concluded Xulu.
