Utrecht SAPS arrest suspect for yielding an Axe

Members of the Utrecht SAPS Crime Prevention Unit were conducting a stop and search operation around 03:00 when they noticed the suspect was carrying an axe.

One man was recently arrested after police in Utrecht discovered him with an axe at the intersection of Voor and van Rooyen Streets.

Members of the Utrecht SAPS Crime Prevention Unit were conducting a stop and search operation around 03:00 when they noticed the suspect was carrying an axe, according to Lizzy Arumugam of the Newcastle SAPS Corporate Communications Department.

When questioned by police officers, the suspect failed to provide an explanation as to why he was yielding an axe, resulting in his arrest,” she explained.

The suspect has since appeared in court, and police are continuing their investigation.
