SANBS to host various mobile blood clinics throughout March

SANBS will host various mobile blood donor clinics throughout the month of March. Read more here:

The South African National Blood Services (SANBS) encourages all eligible donors to take some time out of their day to give the gift of life.

Each unit of blood donated contributes to the ability of those who rely on blood donations to spend time with their families.

Therefore, SANBS will host various mobile blood donor clinics throughout the month of March.

They will be as follows:

  • March 2 – Lincoln Heights
  • March 3 – Panorama Combined school
  • March 4 – Theku Plaza
  • March 5 – Amajuba Mall and Eyethu Junction
  • March 6 – NN Training Centre
  • March 7 – Village Walk
  • March 9 – Scott Street Mall
  • March 12 – Boxer Store and Pioneer Park Pick n Pay
  • March 14 – Newcastle Provincial Hospital
  • March 15 – Newcastle Municipality
  • March 16 – Eyethu Junction
  • March 18 – Theku Plaza
  • March 19 – Amajuba Mall and Pioneer Park Pick n Pay
  • March 20 – Mittal Medical centre and Village Walk
  • March 24 – Eyethu Junction
  • March 25 – Majuba Lodge
  • March 26 – Amajuba Mall and Boxer Store
  • March 28 – Madadeni Hospital and Village Walk
  • March 30 – Scott Street Mall
  • March 31 – Mediclinic Newcastle

You can donate blood if:

  • You are between the ages of 16 and 75 years old (for first-time donors)
  • You weigh a minimum of 50 kilograms (a minimum of 55kg for platelet donors
  • You are in good health
  • You lead a low-risk lifestyle
  • You consider your blood safe for transfusion
  • You have had a balanced meal within four hours of donating blood
  • You have not donated blood in the past 56 days (14 days for platelet donors)
  • Your pulse is between 50-100 regular beats per minute.

SANBS staff will also screen you beforehand to determine your haemoglobin levels and blood pressure.
