Amajuba district municipality gathering ‘prays away’ road accidents

The Amajuba district municipality yesterday held an interfaith prayer to pray against road accidents and other social ills in Newcastle.

Mayor Cllr, uMtwana Ndabuko Zulu, together with Speaker, Cllr uMtwana S.O. Zulu, was joined by councillors of the district, leaders of different faiths, leaders in the transport industry SANTACO and Hlokomela, officials representing the different government departments as well as non-profit organisations.

The programme started with leaders praying on the road opposite the train station, which is known to be a high accident zone, before proceeding to the Newcastle airport.

Mayor Zulu called on everyone to unite in prayer, to ask God to send his Holy Spirit to intervene in reducing the road accidents as well as other social ills that are hurting communities.

He also thanked those who cooperated with the council as well as the transport industry that contributed to make the prayer a success.
