The students are demanding the release of the former chairperson
Students belonging to the Economic Freedom Fighters Student Command (EFFSC) picketed outside the Ladysmith Magistrate’s Court today (February 24). Mnambithi TVET College’s former EFFSC chairperson appeared in court this morning after allegedly assaulting a South African Students Congress (SASCO) member.
According to the students, the former EFFSC chairperson was briefing them when a SASCO student interfered. The student is now accusing the former chairperson of assaulting him.
The former chairperson was arrested yesterday. The students gathered outside the courthouse in support of the accused, saying that he should be released.
