Rifle recovered in Loskop
The suspect was under police surveillance prior to his arrest
In an effort to rid the streets of illegal firearms and ammunition, police recently monitored the movements of a suspect in the Amangwe area of Loskop, waiting for the right time to ‘pounce’.
Their opportunity came in the early hours of Thursday morning, February 2.
Members of the Uthukela District Zone 1 Task Team and Amangwe Visible Policing Unit descended on a home in the Nyezane area, where they recovered an R1 rifle and four rounds of ammunition.
A 41-year-old man was immediately arrested. The suspect has made a brief appearance in the Estcourt Magistrate’s Court.
