Lionel and Deejay ‘shoot’ to the top
It was a full day of competition on the course
The February MMG, Monthly Mug, Mug of Mugs, and ‘Gerry’s Motors closest to the pin shoot-out’ was played at the Estcourt Golf Club on February 4. Players / winners from last year’s ‘closest to the pin on no. 2’ all gathered for the much-anticipated shoot-out.
After five rounds of competition, Deejay Ramdhav prevailed as the 2023 winner.
The medal and Stableford competition then took centre-stage and after some impressive scores being posted, Lionel Laatz shot an impressive nett 68 and 41 points to win the Monthly Mug, Mug of Mugs and Stableford competition, making it a clean sweep.
In a two-way count-out for second spot, Geoff Richmond prevailed over Rajen Goodoon after they both scored nett 69s and 39 points.
Dr Nkosinathi Khuzwayo was within tap-in range on no. 2 to claim the Gerry’s Motors closest to the pin on no. 2. He also played a gross 77 to win the much-coveted Brokenshas Multi-Franchise award.
11 points was enough for Fred Vickers to win the jackpot. Gerhard Reynders perfectly struck a short iron on no. 7 to earn him the closest to the pin cash award. 2-clubs were carded by Seo Mtetwa, SP Olivier and Warren Smith.
