Lady bowlers flock to Dundee for bumper quadrangular contest

128 ladies descended on Dundee Bowling Club to play in this prestigious tournament, while the men played in Newcastle.

This past weekend, Dundee and Newcastle bowling clubs played host to the KZN Quadrangular Tournament for the very first time in their history!
128 ladies descended on Dundee Bowling Club to play in this prestigious tournament, while the men played in Newcastle.
Local bed & breakfast lodges were full to the brim, with ladies booking accommodation from Kingfisher Bowling Association, Port Natal Bowls, Natal Inland Bowling Association and our district, KwaZulu-Natal Country Bowls.
A large amount of work went into the preparation of the greens, as well as the lawns, gardens and clubhouse, much to the delight of the visitors who thoroughly enjoyed the fellowship and hospitality.
Port Natal (known to be the strongest district in KZN) walked away with the honours in all the ladies’ sections, namely the open side, B side, veteran side and presidents side.
“A feather in our cap, though, is that our KZNCB B side men won their section – a great achievement and excellent morale booster going into the Bowls South Africa Inter-Districts Competition in March,” said Tarryn Bierbaum of Dundee Bowling Club.
“A massive thank you is once again extended to the ladies (and one or two men) in the kitchen, the bar staff, greens staff, the sponsors, as well as to every single person who chipped in to make this massive competition such a resounding success!
“It was exceptionally hard work!
“Thanks also to KZN Bowls for giving KZNCB the opportunity to host the 2023 Quadrangular,” added Tarryn on behalf of the bowling club.
