Police recover stolen cattle valued at R110 000

The Anti-Stock Theft Task Team continued their investigation in Osizweni, resulting in the recovery of 14 cattle which stolen in December 2022.

Several suspects have been arrested and charged for being in possession of stolen cattle after police conducted a stock theft operation.

According to Lizzy Arumugam, of the Newcastle SAPS corporate communications department, the Anti-Stock Theft Task Team conducted an operation in the Massakraal area of Madadeni on January 19 and recovered 14 mixed-colour breed cattle.

“The value of recovered cattle was R 105 000-00. However, no arrests were made,” she stated.

The Task Team also apprehended one suspect on January 12 in the Normandien area after two cattle were reported stolen. However, only one was recovered.

“The red Bonsmara heifer was recovered at Haeg farm, Normandien, and was valued at around R10 000.”

The Anti-Stock Theft Task Team continued their investigation in Osizweni, resulting in the recovery of 14 cattle which stolen in December 2022.

Both suspects have since appeared in the Madadeni Magistrate’s Court, while a police investigation continues.
