Prefects do some bonding while on camp

The obstacle course was quite a challenge as well, where they learned about discipline by only listening to their leader and following the leader without talking to any other teammates.

The 2023 Dundee High School (DHS) prefect group recently travelled to Drakensville with ‘prefect parents’ Mr Bester and Mrs Visser in order to solidify the group through team-building activities.
The day started off with the prefects taking a short hike to their abseiling destination. During the latter activity, they were pushed out of their comfort zone and learned a lot about encouraging one another, as well as trusting each member in the team.
The obstacle course was quite a challenge as well, where they learned about discipline by only listening to their leader and following the leader without talking to any other teammates. At the end of the final night, their mentors, Megan and Sam, made them play a game called ‘Stalk the Lantern’, which led to many hilarious and certainly unique strategies in reaching the goal.
Every tour is finalised by an extensive meeting with the ‘prefect parents’, where they brainstormed future plans for DHS and how they would implement these plans in a practical sense. It was a wonderful tour that enabled the 2023 leaders to incorporate their strengths and build on their weaknesses.
Thank you to the organisers at Drakensville, as well as Mr Bester and Mrs Visser for their time and effort in making this tour a success.
Second on international tennis tour
Congratulations to Zemichke Snyman for her outstanding results in an international tennis tour, where she finished second overall. She travelled to Melbourne, Australia, at the beginning of the year after qualifying to take part in this prestigious tournament. She will return to South Africa on January 18. Well done!
