WATCH: Water leak wrecks road

The leak has been left neglected for months

The road leading to one of Estcourt’s most used sporting recreational areas and one of the biggest companies is a watery, potholed mess.
A water leak along the Lambert Park road is causing extensive damage to the road, as well as gross water wastage.

It’s been more than a month since the water leak started. Soon, it was gushing out and flooding parts of Lambert Park, as well as the Eskort Limited staff parking lot.

The persistent flow of water, which has recurred over the years, has caused severe road damage, with large and deep water-immersed potholes.

Management from Eskort Limited has repeatedly taken on road repairs to the area at the side of the factory, which is frequented by staff.
uThukela District Municipality was contacted to explain why millions of litres of water has been left to go to waste for more than a month, and asked when the leak will be fully repaired.

There has been no response from the district’s communication manager, Jabulani Mkhonza, since he was sent photos and questions.
