Home ground victory for cricket lads

The Estcourt team took on their Uthukela cricket rivals, Ladysmith

Competitive cricket matches took place at Lambert Park over the weekend and thankfully good weather prevailed.

On Friday (November 18) Aster took on Colita in a T20 night match.
Colita won the toss and chose to bowl first. Aster scored 116/7 in 20 overs. Aster’s best batsmen were Muneer Shaik who scored 45 runs off 51 balls and Shehzaad Kader who made 17 runs off 14 balls.

Colita’s best bowlers were Suvedh Ramprith who bowled four overs which produced 13 runs and got two wickets. Liaan bowled two overs with nine runs scored and captured two wickets. Colita only managed to get 97 runs with five wickets down in their 20 overs.

Colita’s best batsmen were Nivesh with 36 runs off 41 balls and Suvedh with 30 runs off 38 balls. Aster’s best bowlers were Brandon who bowled three overs, went for 13 runs and got two wickets and Nabeel who bowled four overs that produced 15 runs and got one wicket.
Aster won by 19 runs.

On Sunday (November 19), Umtshezi Cricket Club (Estcourt) welcomed Northern Districts Cricket Union (Ladysmith) to Lambert Park for a 50 over match.

Estcourt won toss and chose to bowl first. Ladysmith scored 204 runs for nine wickets in their 50 overs.

Best batsmen for NDCU were Quasim 88 (44) and Frans 53 (110). Umtshezi’s best bowlers were Suvedh with 10 overs -26 runs – 4 wickets and M Ali with 10 overs -36 runs – 2 wickets. Estcourt pulled together and put on a brilliant batting display with the best batsmen being Romendran with 88 runs off 105 balls and M Ali with 20 runs off 18 balls.

It was intense and competitive match between Northern Districts Cricket Union (batting) and Umtshezi Cricket Club.

NDCU best bowlers were Ridwaan with nine overs – 39runs -3 wickets and Wasim with 5.1 overs -29 runs -2 wickets. Umtshezi Cricket Club got a great victory over Uthukela rivals NDCU, scoring 206 runs for six wickets and winning the game by four wickets, chasing the wire down within 36 overs.

On Saturday night United Cricket Club and Jes Towing played however, no results were given.
