New digital electricity meters; a failed attempt

The meter reader allegedly confessed that the new meters, which were recently installed, were faulty. Read more here:

A resident thought he would cut down on his municipal electricity bill when he installed solar panels at his Moon Street home in January.

However, to his surprise, he still found electricity bills totalling to the same amount prior to him installing solar panels.

The resident approached municipal workers who were taking a ‘meter reading’ in his street only to find that the newly installed meters were out of order.

The meter reader allegedly confessed that the new meters, which were recently installed, are faulty and despite this, they (the meter readers) still had a duty to visit each area for a reading.

Confused, the resident went to the municipality to inquire about his monthly statement where the printed meter reading was climbing even though there was no evidence of his electricity consumption.

On speaking to a senior municipal employee, the resident learned that the faulty meters are currently in the process of being replaced by the previously installed meters. Independent contractors have already started with the project and will be completed by the end of this year.
