Be prepared for major electricity outage
Several areas will be without electricity for most of the day
Estcourt residents have been alerted to be prepared for a ‘major electricity outage’ that the local municipality is planning for September 25.
This is to perform essential work which includes the installation of new transformers at substation 57, as well as remove trees from main lines.
The expected switch-off time is scheduled for 10:00, with electricity being switched back on at 16:00. A large area in and around Estcourt will be affected by the power outage. The affected areas include Mimosadale, Khwezi, the central business district (CBD), industrial area, Colita, Papkuilsfontein, Osizweni, Forderville Brewitt Park, Gellington, Komdag, Mkamba Park, and the Caravan Park and surrounding areas.
“While every effort will be made to ensure that the work is completed before the times indicated, customers must treat all circuits as live in all instances,” said acting municipal manager Zakhona Mnyandu.
