Church holds fun colour picnic

The message was that church is not just for old people and that the youth can have fun without drugs

The Seventh Day Adventist Church organised a ‘Colour Picnic’ for their youth last weekend. The church also extended the invitation to all youth of Ladysmith to come and enjoy fun activities.

The aim of the picnic was to show the youth that church does not have to be serious all the time and that they are also a top priority, not just the elderly. It was an opportunity for young church-going people to come together and mingle in an alcohol-free environment.

The message was that the youth needs to ‘sober up’ and take a stand against social ills like substance abuse in order to become successful adults.

Pastor Nxasane is planning to hold this event again next year and hopes for an even bigger crowd, with the assistance of the local municipality. “Our aim is to get the youth off the streets and on their way towards a bright future in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour,” said Pastor Nxasane.

The youth were divided into pairs and assigned a colour. They then had to bring food items that corresponded with that colour, hence it was a ‘Colour Picnic’ with a difference.
