SAPS hopes to identify Ngagane River body

A member of public saw the body floating in the water and contacted SAPS for help.

Newcastle SAPS is asking the public for help in identifying an unknown African male, whose body was discovered dumped in the Ngagane River on August 21.

According to Lizzy Arumugam (Newcastle SAPS Corporate Communications), a member of the public discovered the body floating down the river and immediately alerted police.

The decomposed body was recovered from the river by police. The deceased was dressed in a blue T-shirt with white print and multi-colored trousers. He also has tattoos on his inner left arm.”

It’s believed the victim was murdered elsewhere and his body dumped in the river.

At this point, neither the victim’s identity nor the motive for his murder is known.”
