Message from Relay for Life event chairperson

This year's Relay for Life will take place at Forderville Primary School athletic track on September 3 and 4

Relay for Life is a life changing event held in 55 countries throughout the world.

The event celebrates the lives of cancer survivors; remembers loved ones lost to cancer; and fights back against social evils like smoking, alcohol and drugs.

This event promotes social cohesion, nation building and Ubuntu.

Thousands of people of all ages, religions and cultures come together to fight against a common enemy, namely cancer.

Many walk all night in memory of a loved one or in support of someone fighting cancer.  Cancer is indiscriminate and knows no boundaries.

Our committee is very appreciative to the Al-Imdaad Foundation, Barberry Group, Jay’s Steel and Suren Naidoo, who are the main sponsors of the event.

The Estcourt relay has raised more than R1.2 million for the Cancer Association of South Africa’s education, care and advocacy programmes.

I have no doubt that the good people of Estcourt will once again support this event, and we expect to raise in excess of R100,000.

The 2022 relay is dedicated to our sound engineer and DJ for life, the late Mr Preggie Naidoo.
