Dia needs your vote for Lotus FM awards

The St Dominics Newcastle learner is nominated in the 'Youth Icon' category.

St Dominics Newcastle’s Dia Singh has been nominated as a Youth Icon for the 2022 Lotus FM Women of Substance Awards (WOSA). She now needs the community’s support.

At just 16, Dia has accomplished much in the world of science and engineering, as well as in her personal capacity as an avid community volunteer.

She was named the first runner-up at the Dubai HP Steam International Expo earlier this year, impressing a panel of judges with her Plastic Incinerated by Plastic (P.I.P) project. Dia also bagged gold at the Eskom International Science Fair earlier that year for the same project.

These achievements earned her a personal phone call from Newcastle Mayor, Xolani Dube, who invited her to be a guest speaker at the recent Youth Summit. There, she inspired more than 3 500 learners to never give up hope of achieving greatness.

Additionally, Dia volunteers free time at facilities such as hospitals and animal shelters and also provides food for the less fortunate members of her community.

These were the basis of Dia being nominated as a candidate for the Lotus FM WOSA.

To vote for Dia, SMS the word ‘WOSA7’ to 33192. SMSes are charged at R1.50 and free minutes, free SMSes and SMS bundles do not apply. Voting officially closes on August 28, so be sure to cast your vote!
