Another angling accolade for Monty

Monty Slabbert of Breakwaters earned his club and his association's top prizes this season.

Monty Slabbert has earned another feather in his fishing cap, after being recognised as the ‘Angler of the Year’ for the combined Breakwaters/Stillwaters Angling Club recently. A few weeks earlier, he was crowned the Angling Professional League’s top competitor.

Monty also earned the combined club’s titles for catching the most fish, scoring the most points, and for success in the AA Coaches Knock Out and the Mohamed Midas League respectively.

His success mirrors that of Breakwaters throughout the 2021/2022 season, and Stillwaters to a lesser degree.

During the last season, Breakwaters won the triple crown for victory in the League, the Knock Out and the AA Coaches Grand Challenge – a feat achieved in 2008/2009, 2013/2014, and 2020/2021. Stillwaters reached the semi-finals and also presented members with a new official kit.
