‘Creativity is everything’ by Halalisani Shoba

Again, thanks to Banyana Banyana, at least as a country we had something positive to celebrate and to be proud of.

I spent more than enough hours last weekend watching television, from channel 103 to channel 515 on DSTV. I had time to even notice that much of the content being displayed on these channels, is totally not relevant to our lives as ordinary South Africans. We are paying for services and entertainment that add no value to our lives, the content has little impact on our social progress. I feel like we are being scammed with the content that is outdated, containing less information that can enhance our thinking capabilities. As it stands, watching television is nothing but a waste of time, there’s a lack of creativity.

Even though there was nothing interesting and exciting on my television screen but at least I did find solace in watching News and Sports channels. Obviously with the News channel, the ‘ANC provincial conference’ that took place in Durban became the outstanding part of the weekend, with new leadership that was elected.

One can only hope that, our needs as the ordinary people in this province will be prioritised going forward. We may differ political but I totally believe that politicians should do away with self enrichment and provide basic needs to the people, also job creation should indeed be a priority.

Again, thanks to Banyana Banyana, at least as a country we had something positive to celebrate and to be proud of. For a moment we did forget about the issues pertaining inflation rates that is seriously disturbing our peace.

Hopefully in our communities we will be inspired to rely behind women participating in different sports, in order to combat the problem of gender inequality when it comes to sports in our communities. There’s no justification that sports were made for certain gender. For the fact that Banyana Banyana made history to win their first ever women’s Afcon in a month deemed to be a ‘men’s month’ in South Africa, means a lot.
