uThukela remains silent about on-going water crisis

Residents seek answers as water crisis flows on

As days turn into weeks and then months, residents affected by the water stoppage are becoming desperate to know when water supply will be restored.

Hundreds of households, small businesses and schools in and around Papkuilsfontein, Forderville, Colita and Rensburgdrift have been without water, some for more than three months, as more questions arise and answers are few and far between.

Despite repeated requests from uThukela District Municipality’s communication department regarding feedback about the water supply, there has been stark silence.

Assurances from the Acting Municipal Manager Mr Mnguni for a follow-up meeting within two weeks of the previous community meeting held on July 4 have also not materialised yet.

More areas in Forderville were also without water after a pump at the Canna Avenue station burnt out on Monday (July 18).

According to information passed along from Ward 10 Councillor Edith Lite to residents on a WhatsApp group, a service provider is busy working on the pump.
